Wood Block Staple Collages
These sculptures are a part of the rust series of sculptures. I made some of them while spending a few quiet years exploring the high desert in Sedona AZ. I really enjoy the stories that rusty items tell. You can see what they've been through in the world and it's fun to imagine their journey. How do these things that were once valued commercial objects, end up rusting in the desert? I also think that nature is the most amazing artist. The patterns that result from naturally occurring rust and decay are often really beautiful, so I try to use those patterns in sculptural and functional objects to give these things new life, and to help everyone see how beautiful they are.
